4th April last. Dr. Ayres calls attention

to the large increase to the staff of the Hospital that has been made since Dr Wharry

appointed in 1873. The details of this increase are shown in annexed statement prepared in the

Audit Office. The personnel has been increased from 16 to 38 and the amual expenditure from £1162.10.

Cese to $11,040 to £2,300 or rather more than double. The number of patients

admitted was in 1873, 952 and the

average for the last nine years
